East Peckham Neighbourhood Development Plan

Local Green Spaces — have your say

Which green spaces in East Peckham do you value and use? Your answers will decide which spaces we put forward for special protection in the Neighbourhood Development Plan.

As part of the work to prepare the Neighbourhood Development Plan, we are reviewing green spaces in East Peckham that might be suitable for special protection. Designating land as Local Green Space provides strong protection against inappropriate development.

A Task Group made up of resident volunteers, Parish Councillors and resident members of the Local Development Committee worked to identify these potential sites. We would now like to ask for the views of our residents.

1

Look through the spaces below. Each one has a photo, a map and a short description.

2

Tick every space you value or use — and tell us why, or what you use it for: walking, relaxation, children's play, bird watching…

3

Press "Send my responses" at the bottom of the page when you're finished. It takes just a few minutes.

You can also take part in person — the same photos and voting boards are on display at the Parish Council Office.

What qualifies a space for Local Green Space protection? +

To be designated, land must be reasonably close to the community it serves, local in character (not an extensive tract of land), and demonstrably special to the local community — meeting one or more of these criteria:

Beauty — visual attractiveness and contribution to the landscape, character and setting of the village.
Historic significance — providing a setting for, or views of, heritage assets and locally valued landmarks.
Recreational value — local significance for recreation and the variety of activities it supports.
Tranquillity — an oasis of calm and a space for quiet reflection.
Richness of wildlife — the value of its habitat for plants, birds and animals.

Your ticks and comments are exactly the evidence needed to show a space is demonstrably special.

Send us your responses

Your postcode helps us show how close each space is to the people who use it — one of the tests a Local Green Space must pass.

We do not ask for your name or contact details. Your ticks, comments and postcode are stored securely, used only as evidence for the Neighbourhood Development Plan, and reported anonymously. The consultation is open until the end of September 2026.

Thank you!

Your responses have been recorded and will form part of the evidence base for the East Peckham Neighbourhood Development Plan. Please encourage friends, family and neighbours to have their say too.
